Why a Conservatory of Magic ?

Conservatories and Museums are places of historical wealth and temples for the conservation of memories. If sometimes museums are ephemeral, reduced to silence by cash that evaporates at the very source of government subsidies, or by an unfortunate fire, as was the case at the Houdini Museum in Niagara Falls in 1995, the Period objects and documents must remain safe from commercial infiltration.
Magic is an atypical art if we compare it to any other artistic form which constantly struts on the walls and podiums of our museums. Paintings, sculptures, portraits, abstract and often very ugly. From musical instruments to anatomical exhibitions... I give up!
The Magic Conservatory of Canada was created in 2023 out of a need to protect the art of magic and introduce new generations to the pioneers of conjuring, sleight of hand and illusion. Our Museum offers enriching exhibitions intended for all audiences, whether you are a historian of magic, an amateur or accomplished artist or simply curious to discover the past of the greatest and most meritorious of their profession.
Many of our collections are made possible thanks to the generosity of donors, whether they are collectors themselves or a family member of the artist inducted, or about to be. These private donations are digitized and then stored in a temperate room in order to preserve the artifact or to prepare it for a possible physical exhibition.
The Conservatory of Magic of Canada obviously prioritizes Canadian collections. Our local artists share an incredible heritage in the great world of magic. It is therefore essential that we give them a significant place within our permanent exhibitions. Our curator works very hard to offer our members and visitors new permanent exhibitions every year.
A bit like me, over time, the Conservatory will expand. To the current team will be added teachers of magic, curious historians with refined pens, and web wizards. The future is magical!
