  • Who selects the inductees?
The Canadian Conservatory of Magic Museum is run by a committee made up of magicians and media people. On May 1 of each year, this committee establishes a list of potential candidates from which the 3 people who receive the most votes will be selected. The winners are announced annually on October 31 by an official press release to members of the Conservatory. The names of the winners are then revealed to the public on December 31 on the Conservatory website. The induction of elected officials takes place on April 22 each year.
  • Who can be inducted into the Conservatory?
Inductees to the Canadian Conservatory of Magic fall into the following categories: MAGICIAN Seasoned or amateur artist who has represented the art of magic and illusion with respect and dedication. This person must have promoted magic through performances (paid or not), either in a room, in a public space (festivals, shopping centers), in a corporate environment, on the radio or on television. The artist must have achieved one or more exploits worthy of mention and, through this or not, have acquired notoriety among the public or their peers. CREATOR The Conservatory also welcomes creators of magic and illusion who, through their works, improve the quality of the catalog of effects and increase the wonder and mystery in the eyes of the public. This person must have created one or more original and patented magical effects.
  • Which countries do the nominees come from?
The Canadian Conservatory of Magic is not an inclusive organization and accepts meritorious applicants from all countries. Our committee selects each nominee based on their personal and professional achievements and not because of their ethnic origin. We are open to diversity and encourage active participation from these communities.
  • Can I exchange my magic trick if I don't like it?
Unfortunately no. The very nature of a magical effect is its operation, and this must remain secret. Instead, we suggest that you carefully select the item you purchase to see if it suits your performance style. For more information on a product, you can always contact our customer service.
  • Can I order an item that is not part of the store's catalog?
Absolutely! If your item is available from our suppliers, we will be happy to order it for you and at the same advertised price. The store only offers items selected according to the precise criteria of the Conservatory. Do not hesitate to ask us what you need. We will be happy to help you.
  • Do you buy old magic tricks?
We purchase certain products, either for resale or to add to the Conservatory's collection. We invite you to send us some photos of the item in question as well as your contact details. The Conservatory acquisition team will contact you further.
  • Who can write for the magazine?
The Conservatoire magazine is an incredible source of information on the art of magic and illusion. It could not exist without the contribution of its wonderful artisans. Whether you are a practitioner or historian of magic, we would be happy to share the richness of your experience with all our readers. Send us a short message with the subject of your text and we will contact you if your subject corresponds to our editorial line. Submission of a text is done on a voluntary basis and is not remunerated. The Conservatory of Magic becomes the purchaser of the text, but grants credit to its author. You can contact the magazine's editorial team at the following email address: conservatoiredemagie@gmail.com
  • Can I contribute to a regular column in the magazine?
We accept requests for regular columns provided that they are in the editorial line of the magazine and that they do not already exist in the contents. However, we prioritize original Quebec or French content over pre-existing and translated content. We will be happy to receive your request for participation in a regular column and to be able to count you among the contributors to the only French-speaking magic magazine in Canada. Send us an email with your idea for a regular column (4 columns per year) and a short summary of yourself and your interest in magic. The address to contact us is: conservatoriedemagie@gmail.com
